Dear Winchester Families:
We have had a great start to the 2019-2020 school year! We welcomed a diverse and talented group of over 4,800 students this fall into our school district. I would like to share a few highlights with you:
The school committee recently approved our District Goals and Improvement Plan, which you can find here: https://www.winchesterps.org/DIP%2019.20%20final.pdf
We plan to begin the search process for the 2020-21 Lynch principal position in November. Lynch parents will receive more specific information about the process soon.
We are still searching for a great Director of Technology. Please refer talented candidates with a technology and education background to schoolspring.com for more details.
All Winchester schools were among the state’s top-performing on the 2019 MCAS assessments. Three of our district’s schools were named as one of the 67 schools honored by the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education as “Schools of Recognition” for high growth, exceeding targets, and achievement.
We look forward to the annual fall town meeting on 11/4, where School Committee Chair Michelle Bergstrom will present an overview of enrollment and program updates. Town meeting members will consider an article to install an elevator at Parkhurst in preparation for using the school to meet future space needs.
As always, follow me on Twitter @JudithEvans1 and check out our district Facebook page for the latest happenings and photos.
