The Vinson-Owen School is one of five elementary schools in the town of Winchester, Massachusetts. We serve a student body of about 430 students in preschool-Grade 5. The school is named in honor of Winchester's famous family of figure skaters, who died tragically in an airplane crash en route to international competition.
The school has a history of excellence and a long-standing commitment to community service. We are fortunate to have an exceptional staff, supportive parents, and wonderful children.
The Parents' Association supports the school with a school newsletter, enrichment programs, and community-building activities. This website has been designed to provide the latest news, information, and resources at Vinson-Owen. As we progress in the development of this site, we hope you will find it to be useful and interesting.

The Massachusetts Consortium for Innovative Education Assessment (MCIEA) is a partnership of seven public school districts and their local teacher unions, joined together to create a fair and effective accountability system that offers a more dynamic picture of student learning and school quality than a single standardized test.
The MCIEA school quality framework – derived from a combination of empirical findings, public polling, and focus groups with local stakeholders – is comprised of five categories: three inputs (Teachers and Leadership, School Culture, and Resources) and two outcomes (Academic Learning and Community and Well-Being).
