Counseling and guidance services are provided by the Guidance department which includes 6 guidance counselors, two adjustment counselors and the Guidance Department Administrative Assistant. The Coordinator of Guidance is Ms. Suzanne Ontso.
The goal of the Guidance Department is to promote social/emotional, academic and career development for all students. We work to help students form a sense of responsibility and to develop the skills necessary to realize their individual goals. All WHS students participate in comprehensive guidance programming with grade specific workshops designed to increase their understanding of the WHS community, develop self-advocacy, planning and independence skills while becoming familiar with their individual learning styles and interests.
This website contains information about a variety of guidance-related topics intended to assist parents and students with many of the issues, questions and concerns that they may encounter during their years at WHS. Because much of the information provided is grade specific, the website is organized around grade levels.
A counseling relationship requires an atmosphere of trust and confidence which must not be compromised by the counselor except where there is a clear and present danger to the counselee or to other persons. The school counselor may share information gained in the counseling process for essential consultation with other appropriate persons specifically concerned with the student.
Parking For School Day Guidance Programs
Individuals attending school events during the school day should use the parking spaces on Skillings Road in front of WHS, including the indented spaces that the buses use to drop/pick up students.
