Dear Winchester Students, Families, Faculty, and Staff:
I hope this message finds you enjoying the summer months! I am writing to introduce myself as your Interim Superintendent.
I officially started my work in Winchester on July 1, 2021, and in just a few short weeks, I already have learned that Winchester is a special place. It is a community filled with people who are proud of their Town and their schools, and I am honored to be part of it.
To date, I have had the opportunity to meet with school administrators, school committee members (including three school committee meetings), as well as town officials. I also had the pleasure of meeting the Winchester Parent-Teacher Associations Council (PISC), members of both the Winchester Special Education Parent Advisory Council and the Foundation for Educational Excellence, as well as representatives of the Network for Social Justice, Coalition for a Safer Community, and the Educational Facilities & Planning Board. Most recently, I met with members of the Police Department and attended the Town’s Capital Planning Committee. It has been an active, informative, and energizing few weeks!
I look forward to meeting many of you soon! After a challenging year with the pandemic, I know many of you have been getting some well-deserved time away this summer. Over the course of August, and through the month of September, I will be partnering with school committee members, administrators, and parent organizations to schedule “meet-and-greets” in our schools. More information on dates and times will be communicated over the coming days.
Thank you to everyone who has been so warm and welcoming! Enjoy the rest of your summer, and I look forward to seeing you soon.
Dr. Frank Hackett, Interim Superintendent of Schools
